Hey beauties, I know it has been a while ( as usual) but I just had to share this quick tidbit with you. I received some delightful news in my inbox this morning. It looks like coastal scents has hopped on the HD foundation train and come up with a line of their own! This company never ceases to amaze me with the the number and quality of their products. REVLON DOUBLETWIST MASCARA
For all my mascara loving beauties!

I have a confession, I am a complete mascara JUNKIE!! I find myself holding onto the idea that someday, there will be mascara that supplies all of my needs: curl definition, brilliant separation of lashes, and last but not least clump free. I unfortunately, have not been able to find one that fits all these needs, but I decided to review one of my latest mascara fixes.

What they say:

• Thickening Brush + Separating Combs = The Ultimate Lash Look

What I say: Overall rating is 3 out of 5 stars.

This mascara was pretty basic to me; it separated my lashes well and did not clump. One aspect I loved was that this mascara did not dry extremely hard. However I don’t think I would purchase it again, there was no WOW factor. check out the pics below :-)

It’s time for the first POTD (Product of the day)

Mango Body Butter & Sugar scrub: The Body Shop

Beauties, I suffer from severe dry skin (thanks a lot mom lol). I absolutely LOVE body butters and scrubs, but have been unable to find a combo that works well for me. Well that was in the past, the mango body butter and scrub form The Body Shop has simply amazed me!

Mango Sugar Scrub!

What they say: Have soft, glowing skin with this oil-based, soft-textured scrub that is packed with exfoliating salt grains and organic sugar.

What I say: This stuff is GREAT!! Most body scrubs I have tried tend to exfoliate, but don’t moisturize. This is the complete opposite. It gently exfoliates the skin, but leaves it moisturized afterwards.

Mango Body Butter!

What they say: Pamper your skin with a rich, deliciously mango-scented cream that softens and moisturizes for up to 24 hours.

What I say: This stuff is the TRUTH!!!! Out of all the body butters I have tried (I’ve tried them all), this is the MOST moisturizing. My skin drinks this stuff up, and stays quenched all day long. It also goes on very easy, with a smooth and silky formula (Pure heaven in a jar). I highly recommend this product, especially for those with dry skin.

The only con: it’s rather pricey, at $20.00 for a 6.9 oz jar, and you’ll go through it rather quickly. Other than that I think it’s worth the purchase. Until next time.

It is true, When I go to a show it's like i'm entranced and taken into another world, one full of laughter sadness, joy, and all of the emotions in the entire world,but they are paired with MUSIC!!! what a glorious combination ( I'm such a dork).I can now add The Color Purple to the list of shows I have seen THANKS MOM!!! Beauties!!!!

Well I have been MIA for some time now; school has been kicking my butt. But on a lighter note, I wanted to start off the beauty basics section with a post on tools.

Tools are very important when it comes to makeup application. Tools, in my opinion, show how well a person can apply their makeup and takes effort to really learn how to use them well. Even though not really hard using tools effectively can make sure you have that flawless “BEAT” face that you admire on TV and the magazines.

Foundation

Flat foundation brush
This brush in my opinion is fairly good (no matter the brand). Yet, you have to be careful with brush because if not paying attention there is room for you foundation to look streaky, which we all know is not a good look. If using this brush, follow up with a buffer brush like a kabuki or my FAVORITE!!! (MAC 109) to make sure you buff (blend) out any harsh lines.

Sponges

I was not a fan of sponges until I knew how to use them. When using these make sure you soak your sponge with a small amount of water to prevent the sponge from soaking up your product, then apply foundation as you see fit. This helps the sponge to give you that air brushed application without using a lot of product.

Remember, there’s nothing wrong with full coverage, but nobody looks good with thick cakey foundation.

Eyes

Sponges
When applying foundation sponges are ok, but when it comes to eye shadow it is a complete NO NO!!! PLEASE under no circumstance should you use the tiny sponges that come in the Covergirl, H.I.P., Revlon, cases ~*SHUTTERS~* These do absolutely nothing but soak up your product, and don’t allow any room for blending.

Shadow brushes are essential in obtaining a great blended look, below are a few of my favorites!

-MAC 217: great brush for crease
-Sonia kashuk: great budget friendly line from target, very soft and good quality brushes.
-Essence of Beauty brushes: great affordable brand from CVS.

Well since the semester is beginning tomorrow, I decided to do a FOTD this evening before my life gets crazy again. I am going to try to do at least one post per week, so we will see how that goes. Since one of my resolutions for 2009 was to wear makeup every day I decided to test out looks and decided on a nice neutral look for class, I hope you like!

I just want to wish everyone a wonderful new year. I hope that you bring in the New Year with much enthusiasm and I wish you all the best in your future endeavors. I myself am soooooo thankful for all the many blessings that God has given me in 2008 and I thank him for allowing me to learn so many things and for continuous growth in him, without him I am nothing. Ok let me stop preaching lol, but on the makeup side I was going to do a tutorial for a new year’s look but time got away from me, and now I have to start getting ready for church, but I do have some suggestions below.

Simple Smokey eye

1. Use black as the lid color, to give shadow more pop add a sparkling black like MAC black shadow or a black onyx from Palladio (sally beauty supply).Also adding silver glitter to the base of the lid will give the look some extra umph.

2. The key to a great Smokey eye is blending; make sure there are not harsh lines especially since you are using such a bold color. Black shadow should be blended up into the crease and to soften the look add a wash of color to the crease like a smooth purple, green, or blue.

3. Lashes are also a great accessory to a Smokey eye, bringing a more intense and sultry look to the eye.

4. Last but not least, as with any intense eye you want to go for a nude lip so the look is not overpowering.

EYE Space??

DIVAS!!!!
As I was sitting at my grandma’s kitchen table my cousin was admiring (yes admiring lol) a look I did and told me that she loved makeup but she just did not have enough eye space like me to get the looks she wanted. So I instantly thought that I should do a post on this because this is a common misconception, while it is a fact that some women have more eye space than others, there are ways you can increase the eye space you have. After all makeup is in my opinion enhancing ones natural beauty along with creating illusions. For instance, with makeup you can create the illusion anything from fuller lips to wider eyes. So after searching the web I came across some info on eye shapes and the makeup application for each type. I used my googling (is that a word?) skills and found this diagram from thebeautyreview.com and I think it’s very helpful. I will also list some of my personal tips below, hope you like.

Personal tips.
1.To brighten eyes apply white or gray eyeliner to the lower lash line to give the illusion on a more awake appearance.

2.To increase eye space you can always put your crease color above where your natural crease falls (closer to your brow bone) the higher you place this color the more space you have for your lid color.

3.I don’t have the guts to do this but: shaving off your brows and drawing the particular shape of your liking, this way you can control the amount of eye space, in this particular case you can change your eyes pace according to the type of look you want to achieve. Going from the basic shape to something very dramatic!

When I grow up??????????????????
As I sit here thinking about my future (I know I sound like dork) I can’t help but wonder what I want to be when I grow up? With graduation just a few months away I really need to get a handle on what it is I plan to do with my life. I know it sounds cliché, but it’s amazing how after spending thousands of dollars on a degree, you still may not ultimately know what you want to do with your life. As an Advertising Public Relations, major there are many different fields I can go into, so that is a plus. I do however, know that I DO NOT want to work for a large PR firm, I want to be passionate about the work that I do and want it to impact people’s lives in a positive way. Lately I have been thinking about jobs working for magazines (preferably beauty, fashion), I just have a passion for things girly and I don’t think that being in a stuffy office all day will make me happy, I know that I am not going to get my dream job right out of school, but I am going to stay in continuous prayer and I know that God will provide me with a position that is best fit for me. I know this was a little off subject but I felt like sharing. I plan on using what’s left of my Christmas break to start looking for jobs and keep you all updated on my progress. I am planning on applying to jobs that I am not yet qualified for but I don’t have anything to lose, who knows what doors God will open up :-) until next time.

I am a little disappointed with this collection I was so excited when I saw the pictures online and was ready to go crazy on this collection but I only purchased one item ( Royal Tour eye trio). Consisting of three different shades of purples (my favorite color) I could not pass it up. I also did a look that is posted below; sorry for the poor quality my camera is PURE CRAP lol. I also checked out the chill collection and purchased absolutely NOTHING at all from the shadows as well as the pigments just didn’t do anything for me. HEY DIVAS!!!
I just thought I would get t a quick post in before finals week because I will soon be MIA. Well to spill little about my holiday it was AWESOME!!! I thanks God everyday for the wonderful family and friends he has blessed me with, But on another note……

BLACK FRIDAY
Everyone knows about this day, when people get up at the butt crack of dawn to go shopping for great deals the day after thanksgiving. While I like black Friday I have to say I would be more apt to go to the stores if they had sales on makeup. For instance, just to think if MAC had a percentage off of their cosmetics after thanksgiving how much of a turnout they would have on black Friday. Women would be falling over themselves to get to that, instead of just free shipping with any order online ( although this is a plus). I think MAC and other cosmetic giants should give this some thought.

IMAN Second 2 None stick foundation

While cruising through you tube I decided to look up reviews on this foundation that I have been eyeing for some time. So far I have heard great reviews on it, and I plan to purchase this item at my local ulta this week so you will be seeing a post on this soon. I have posted the review I particularly love by TheSagaciousGirl, on YouTube, and she gives an AWESOME review of the product.
I am VERY excited about this product, so soon I will have a review for you as well. Also I will be doing a couple posts on a haul I just had from a number of places, and soon MAC’s DAME EDNA COLLECTION YAY!!!!!!

Finally FOTD
Hello divas, well this look is inspired by my trip to Clinique, I wanted to try out their foundation and I must say out of all the cosmetic counters I have been too this Clinique rep was very helpful, and knowledgeable about their products. This is something I pay much attention too because I can’t stand going to a counter and knowing more than the person who is selling the product. As for the quality of foundation Clinique’s foundation has a very satiny (if that’s a word lol) texture when applied. I actually like it, it’s not the holy grail of foundations but it’s not bad. I hope you guys enjoy, feel free to comment and leave tips as well I am always open to learn more
